Life Science Business
The first product produced by Olympus was a microscope, introduced in Japan in 1920. Since then, Olympus has become the leading provider of precision microscopes and microscope systems to clinical laboratories, science, engineering, education, food, agricultural, fishery, animal husbandry and research industries. Olympus bioimaging technologies are assisting a variety of the latest scientific researches in biology and medicine, which will help define the next generation of healthcare, including the elucidation of brain functions, mechanisms for cancer formation and metastasis, drug action and immunity mechanisms, and iPS cell technology.
Almost everything that is designed, engineered, and manufactured is inspected, measured or analyzed to ensure its performance, safety, and reliability. Olympus nondestructive testing (NDT) technologies, such as ultrasound, eddy current and remote visual testing (RVI) provide critical inspection benefits on parts as varied as aircraft engines, oil and gas pipelines, plastic bottles, wind turbines, golf balls, or rubber tires, just to name a few.
